Abita Springs Busker Festival

WHO & WHAT

A busker is a street performer who works for tips.  We bring in some of the very best musicians from the New Orleans and surrounding areas each year.

The date is Sunday, April 7, 2024. This will be the twelfth annual free festival. It was established to preserve and present Louisiana roots music and has grown in popularity with each passing year. It is not, however, an opportunity for busking. It is a concert/festival sponsored by the Abita Springs Opry and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival & Foundation, Inc.

Here’s a nice video of the festival.

Please note that although we call this a busker festival, there is no opportunity for busking during the event.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Just bring your lawn chair, sunscreen, and dancing shoes. Please don’t bring food, drinks, or dogs.

Parking is always a challenge.  Look across Hwy. 59 behind Mama D's or on neighboring streets.  Also, the Middle School lot is usually open but fills up by noon. If every place is full, you can always park at the Park & Ride area but you’ll have to walk the Tammany Trace a bit to get to the festival.

Our weekly Farmers Market will be going on at the same time so there’s plenty of hot food, cold beer/drinks, and a variety of other food options and crafts. Also, there are three restaurants and a grocery less than a block away.

If you’d like your band to be considered, contact Bryan but please note that nearly all bands performing over the last twelve years have been from Louisiana.
